Membership
Founded in 1936, Chichester Yacht Club is a friendly club offering year-round programme of cruising, racing, trainingand social events. The Club benefits from a beautiful harbourside location with a large modern clubhouse which is a perfect place to relax and meet new friends. The sheltered waters of Chichester Harbour with convenient access from the Club offer the ideal environment for those learning to sail and an attractive area for racing and cruising. The Club has three main sections: Yacht, Dinghy and Motor, members may be members of more than one section. Many members also use the excellent location as a base for Wing foiling, canoeing, Paddleboarding and windsurfing.
The Club also recently added a brand new 4-person Celtic Longboat to its fleet. Its a light weight boat with fixed seats and composite oars. Several outings are organised every week, both midweek and at weekends. These are open to members of all ability from 16 years old upwards and include the following: Novice and taster rows, Training rows, Social rowing, typically this is a gentle row round the harbour, duration around 60 to 90 minutes, Performance Rowing, typically between start and finish post between Birdham Pool post and Dell Quay, Pub or Club row, to Dell Quay, Itchenor, or Bosham, Regattas (light competition) organised by sailing and rowing clubs in the harbour
The location and offering of the Club attracts a wide variety of members from Sussex, Hampshire, Surrey and London as well as the Chichester area.
The Club offers a range of membership categories for families, individuals and cadets/students. Special rates are available to under 25s, under 30s and under 40s.
No boat is required to join the Club. There is a wide range of Club dinghies available for members to hire at minimal cost and there are opportunities to crew with other members in all sections. Club members will be on hand to offer help and advice if you eventually decide to buy a boat of your own.
Aside from on the water activities, the Club runs a wide range of social events including lectures, bands/discos, parties and formal balls, bridge, ramblers, wine tasting, screening of major sporting events and quizzes.
